My husband and I just completed the 2.5-day ASA 101 course and we are absolutely thrilled with the experience! From start to finish, everything about this sailing school exceeded our expectations.Our instructor, Rick, was phenomenal. He brought a lifetime of sailing knowledge to every moment of the course. His calm and patient teaching style helped us learn so much in just a few days. Not only was he an excellent instructor, but we also really enjoyed spending time with him and sharing life stories.We also had the pleasure of meeting Matty, the owner, who was incredibly welcoming and so helpful in getting us scheduled. He made the whole process seamless and clearly cares about creating a great experience for everyone.Throughout our time there, we interacted with several staff members, and every single person we met was friendly, supportive, and made us feel like part of the sailing family.While we were at the docks, we saw multiple groups coming and going on charters. Everyone looked happy, energized, and was having a great time. It was inspiring and definitely got us excited for what’s next in our sailing journey.We’ll absolutely be back for more courses and time on the water. This was such a memorable and confidence-building experience and we can’t recommend it enough!

We worked with Soundside to plan a work retreat on a private charter. Everyone had an amazing time. The planning and coordination was so easy because of Soundside and their communication. The flexibility that comes along with your excursion is so nice. We spent time on the water and at Masonboro Island where we had a picnic. Matty and Evelyn were so accommodating from helping us load all our belongings on and off, and then on and off again at the island. This was an activity for everyone to enjoy. Additional perks include a bathroom on board, some parking options, they also provided soda, water and ice.

What an amazing experience, had so much fun. Loved it.

Booked sunset harbor cruise through the Trailbourn hotel. Very nice cruise area. The captains were great-really tried to give everyone a great experience. Free drinks too!

I took the ASA 101 Sailing class fall 2025. I cannot say enough good about the team of Matty and Matt. I learned so much and had a great time doing so. I highly recommend this group.

Had a lovely evening on the inter coastal last night with Captain Matty and Soundside Adventures - what a beautiful boat/catamaran......we saw dolphins, visited the inlet with lots of coastal birds and viewed the gorgeous homes along the bay. I recently went out on a Hobie with Ashlin who is both super cool and very knowledgeable about everything sailing! I am really excited to return soon. Certainly the highlight of my month!

I booked a hobie cat and when we showed up there was no wind. They rescheduled me several more times, trying to find a break in the weather that seemed to flip flop between calm and thunderstorms. It took 3 days but they made it work and we are so grateful! I will be back anytime I'm in Carolina Beach. Absolutely model business when it comes to customer service.

I contacted Matty to gather information about exposing my 10-year-old to sailing. I easily booked a "Try Sailing" within a day of my interest. Booking was simple, efficient, and clear. The option of "Try Sailing" is a perfect way to try and learn before committing too much. Logistics of "Try Sailing" option was easy (everything is provided); Matty's teaching style was systematic and breezy, but you can tell he was paying attention to details and safety. Matty is an excellent and calm instructor who offered us a wonderful experience and a lot of education, including knowledgeable next steps. Everyone with whom we interacted were kind, passionate, and knowledgeable. And my kid got to sail a boat! What a dream! Great business.
